Dermasilk Elite Soft Cup Bra: XS/S
Eczema, Psoriasis and other Skin Conditions
The DermaSilk Elite Soft Cup Bra is a wire-free therapeutic bra designed for women living with eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, and other allergic or sensitive skin conditions. Part of the DermaSilk Elite Intimate Line, it is made from 96% pure silk protein yarn (fibroin) with 4% elastane — combining the clinical benefits of medical-grade silk with a soft, stretch fit that adapts to any figure.
For women whose skin reacts to synthetic fabrics, underwire pressure, or conventional bra linings, the DermaSilk Elite Soft Cup Bra offers a clinically grounded alternative that sits gently against the skin without triggering irritation.

What DermaSilk Silk Is — And Why It Matters
This is not standard silk. DermaSilk uses pure silk fibroin — the inner protein strand of the silk filament — which has been degummed to remove the outer sericin coating. Sericin is the protein most associated with silk sensitivity reactions. Once removed, what remains is a hypoallergenic, ultra-smooth fibre with a surface structure similar to human skin protein, making it exceptionally well-tolerated by reactive and compromised skin.
The addition of AEM 5772.5 antimicrobial treatment — permanently bonded, not coated — controls bacteria and fungi on the fabric surface without releasing any chemical residue onto the skin.
Washing & Care
Hand wash with a non-biological (enzyme-free), fragrance-free detergent. Rinse thoroughly and air dry. Every 10 washes, soak overnight in a solution of two tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda per litre of water to maintain fabric softness, then wash as above.
FAQ
Is the DermaSilk Soft Cup Bra suitable for eczema on the torso and chest? Yes. It is specifically designed for women with eczema, atopic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis affecting the chest, underbust, and torso. The wire-free soft cup design eliminates pressure points, while the silk fibroin fabric reduces friction and moisture build-up — two common triggers for eczema flare-ups in areas covered by a bra.
What makes this bra different from a regular soft-cup or cotton bra? Standard cotton bras can trap heat, become rough when damp, and cause friction that worsens eczema. The DermaSilk bra uses medical-grade silk fibroin with a permanent antimicrobial treatment — a combination not found in ordinary lingerie. It retains moisture without feeling damp, maintains a stable skin temperature, and does not release chemicals onto the skin.
Does this bra have underwire? No. It is a wire-free soft cup bra, making it appropriate for women with inflamed, reactive, or post-procedure skin where underwire pressure would cause discomfort or worsen irritation.
Is DermaSilk safe for women with a silk allergy? DermaSilk uses degummed silk fibroin — the inner protein strand — with the outer sericin coating removed. Sericin is the component most associated with silk sensitivity reactions. Most people who report a silk sensitivity are reacting to sericin, not fibroin. If you have a confirmed silk allergy, consult your allergist or dermatologist before use.
Can I wear this bra if I have contact dermatitis caused by synthetic fabrics? Yes. The 96% silk fibroin construction avoids the synthetic materials — nylon, polyester, elastane blends — that commonly trigger contact dermatitis. The 4% elastane provides stretch but does not form the primary skin-contact surface.
How do I care for the DermaSilk Soft Cup Bra? Hand wash with a non-biological, fragrance-free detergent and air dry. Every 10 washes, soak overnight in bicarbonate of soda solution (2 tablespoons per litre of water) to maintain softness. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, or use enzyme-based detergents, as these can degrade the silk fibre and reduce the life of the antimicrobial treatment.
