Nickel Solution is a unique two-step system designed to both detect and protect against nickel exposure. This easy-to-use kit combines Nickel Alert® and Nickel Guard®, giving you a complete solution for managing nickel sensitivity.

What’s Included

Nickel Alert® – Detect Nickel in Seconds

Nickel Alert is a ready-to-use dimethylglyoxime (DMG) spot test that safely detects nickel in metal items. In just 30 seconds, it can identify even trace amounts of nickel.

Nickel Guard® – Protect Your Skin

Nickel Guard is a clear, durable coating that bonds to metal surfaces to create a protective barrier between your skin and nickel.

• Free from formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate
• May also help reduce exposure to metals such as gold or cobalt

How to Use

Step 1: Test with Nickel Alert

Apply 2–3 drops onto a cotton swab and rub the metal surface firmly for 15–30 seconds.
A pink or red colour indicates the presence of nickel.
Use a new swab for each test.

For reference, a nickel coin (approximately 25% nickel) will produce a clear positive result.

Use in a well-ventilated area.

Step 2: Protect with Nickel Guard

Where nickel is detected, apply 2–3 thin coats of Nickel Guard to the areas that come into contact with skin.
Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.

Reapply as needed, as the coating may wear over time.
Nickel Alert can be used to confirm that protection remains effective.

Important Notice

Nickel Alert, Nickel Guard, and Nickel Solution are intended for use on metal items only. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Nickel Alert will not damage metal, including delicate jewellery. However, it may affect coated surfaces such as varnish or antique finishes.

Some evaporation of Nickel Alert may occur over time without affecting performance.

These products are designed to detect and help protect against nickel exposure on metal surfaces. Results may vary depending on application and external factors beyond our control.

For safety reasons, Nickel Alert cannot be returned once the tamper-evident seal has been opened.
