How Mepilex Works

Mepilex combines an absorbent foam layer with Safetac® soft silicone wound contact technology.

The foam absorbs and manages wound fluid, while the Safetac layer is designed to adhere gently to dry surrounding skin without adhering aggressively to the moist wound bed.

Precautions

• Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity to Mepilex or any of its materials.
• Do not use together with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
• If signs of clinical infection occur, including fever, redness, warmth or swelling around the wound, consult a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.
• Do not reuse. Reuse may reduce product performance and may result in cross-contamination.
• The product is supplied sterile. Do not use if the sterile barrier has been damaged or opened before use.
• Do not re-sterilise.

Important Information

The polyurethane foam used in Mepilex may become more yellow when exposed to light, air and/or heat. This colour change does not affect the product’s performance when used before the expiry date.

If a serious incident occurs in relation to the use of Mepilex, it should be reported to Mölnlycke Health Care and the appropriate local regulatory authority.
